First edition of well-known book printed by the author in his lifetime that earned him the title of Shaagat Aryeh. Like many other copies, this one does not include the extra pages added after the printing. The signature of the owner appears twice on the title page: Meir Tzilach. Rabbi Meir Tzilach (1750-1826) was a leader of his generation and a friend of Rabbi Akiva Eiger. He served as the Rabbi of Lask for nearly 50 years. He gave approbations to many books, alongside others leaders of that time. He was eulogized by Rabbi Aryeh Leib Tzintz in his book Tiv Chalitzah. His son, Rabbi Shmuel Tzilach, a Rabbi in Povoznick, wrote Nachalat Shivah in his father’s memory [Breslau, 1827]. On the back page, Rabbi Shmuel Tzilach wrote honorable descriptions of his father.
