Sha’alu Shlom Yerushalayim – investigation of the new book printed, entitled Yerushalmi Chulin Bechorot written by many expert sages of the generation, accompanied by a memorial essay from the recent generation, by Rabbi Meir Dan Plotzky. Bilgoray, 1910. First edition.
This book is of historic importance. It is the major work that proved that the Yerushalmi Talmud on Seder Kodshim, printed by Friedlander, was fraudulent. Let us not forget that many of the rabbinic leaders of the generation were taken in by this fraud, not realizing that it was a forgery.
At the beginning of the book, there are letters by rabbinic leaders of the generation about the Yerushalmi – the author of Avnei Nezer , the brother of the author of Sefat Emet (in the Sefat Emet’s name); Rabbi Yechiel Meir of Ostrovtza; Rabbi Yosef Rosen – the Rogochover; Rabbi Yoav Yehoshua Weingarten of Kintz, author of Chelkat Yoav , and others. Correspondence between the author and Friedlander appears at the end of the book.
