Poems by Chaim Nachman Bialik. Two sections. Warsaw, 1901. Ch. N. Bialik’s first work.
78, [2], 81-162 pages. 18 cm. Two sections, two title pages.
Chaim Nachman Bialik was born in the Ukraine in 1873. He published this work when he was 28. It includes tens of poems, in their first version. In 1908, he republished the book in Krakow, but omitted most of the poems and printed others in their place! It is not clear whether these poems in their first version were reprinted in later editions.
According to the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book, there is a censor approval on the back of the title page. This copy does not feature this approval. The book concludes with poem 46, Odessa, Cheshvan 1901 – very close to when it was printed. Especially rare.
Original cardboard binding. Loose connection to the binding. Fine condition.
