Shivi’im Tikunei HaZohar with the Chemdat Zvi commentary by Rabbi Zvi Chotsch. Amsterdam [1706]. Only edition.
8, 164 leaves. 30 cm. Magnificent, illustrated title page. Some believe that the title page (such as the images of the stags) alludes to the fact that the author was a Sabbatean.
The author was suspected of believing in Shabtai Zvi. The Yaavetz penned an opposition to the work and its author. The work was printed with many prominent approbations, including one by Rabbi Naftali HaKohen Katz, author of the Smichat Chachamim. However, in his introduction to a different edition of the Tikunei HaZohar, Rabbi Naftali Katz wrote that he rescinded his approbation.
Simple binding. Title page margins slightly cropped. Aging stains. Fine-very fine condition.
