Contains the signatures of Rabbi Chaim Nachum Halberstam, rabbi of Moszczyk, and his son Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam of Radzymin, son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Menachem of Aleksander. With handwritten scholarly glosses.
Specifications : Contains many signatures of Rabbi Chaim Nachum Halberstam Komarno. On the first title page is the owner’s signature, Rabbi Chaim Nachum Halberstam, and an inscription stating that the book belongs to Rabbi Menahem Mendel Halberstam, and is from the estate of his deceased father. On the second title page is the inscription: ” kaniti mehoni [?] likvod tzuri ” and Rabbi Menachem Nachum’s signature (damaged). Written on the endpage: “Fell to my lot from the estate of my master, father, teacher and rabbi, Menachem Mendel Halberstam son of … son-in-law of the Admor of Aleksander.”
Throughout the book’s pages are a number of handwritten scholarly halachic glosses.
Rabbi Chaim Nachum Halberstam was born in 1880 to his father, Rabbi Moshe of Kashnov, grandson of Rabbi Chaim of Sanz. He was ordained by Rabbi Yitzchak Shmelkish, the Maharsha”m of Berezhany, and author of Atzei Besamim . He was the son-in-law of Rabbi Ya’akov Moshe Safrin of Komarno, and resided in Komarno. From 1905 he served as rabbi of Mostsysk [from Mashtsiska] until his passing at an early age in 1921. His widow married Rabbi Aharon Mendel Guterman, the Admor of Radzymin, who raised his sons Rabbi Menachem Mendel and Rabbi Shneur Zalman.
Rabbi Menachem Mendel Halberstam was the son-in-law of the Admor Rabbi Yitzchak Menachem of Aleksander, and was the rabbi of Radzymin. He was killed in the Holocaust. A responsa of his was printed in Shu”t Mekadshei Hash-m . Refer to: Chachmai Galitziah 2, 466.
