Responsa of Rabbi Shlomo ben Aderet of Barcelona (Rashba). Venice, 1545. Glosses in an early Ashkenazic hand.
2-186 leaves. Missing the title page and five pages of the index, 27 cm.
The margins feature glosses by a number of writers, apparently all from 1540-1640. Most were written by one writer in the early part of the decade, as indicated by the writing style and the fact that he calls the author of the Beis Yosef and Shulchan Aruch “HaKaro” (refer to: 26a, 105b, 106a, 114b, 125a, 145b). This appellation was only used by contemporaries of the Shulchan Aruch. He also writes זהו גרסת רב אלפסי וגרסת הרא”ש אבל בגמרא דפוס לא כך הגרסא – indicating that he still used handwritten gemarot. In a number of places, he notes the customs that were currently followed, contrast to the words of the Beit Yosef and other geonim.
Old binding without backstrip. Fine condition.
