He was the Rosh Yeshiva of the Sha’ar Shamayim Kabalistic yeshiva, a Torah genius and noted kabalist. He was the son of Rabbi Aharon Slatky. Rabbi Dovid Beharan learned with him b’chavrusa, after the death of the Ba’al HaLeshem – his previous learning partner. He authored many works; “Yad Eliyahu” an index to the Arizal’s kabala; “Aderet Eliyahu” on the Zohar; and “Chasdei Dovid” on halacha.
