The letter was sent to a group of young men, students of ‘Ohel Yosef Yitzchak Lubavitch’ in Morocco. During the days of selichot, 1955.
The Rebbe, with abundant affection, mentions each student by name with his mother’s name in his letter. The Rebbe also differs from his usual text, writing: “I have received your pleasant letters,” thereby demonstrating his special affection. He adds blessings for the upcoming year:
“Towards the upcoming year, for us and the entire Jewish people for good and for blessing, I hereby express my blessing to be inscribed for a good, sweet new year, a year of success in the diligent study of our holy Torah and fulfillment of its mitzvahs, in good health, with blessings, to the Talmud Torah with fear of Heav-n.”
The Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson [1902-1994] was the seventh leader in the dynasty of Admo”rs of Lubavitch. He served as Admo”r from 1951 until his passing. He was a tremendous genius in all realms of Torah, and his net was – and is still – cast across the entire world.
