Pair of velour bags. The small purple tefillin bag is embroidered with the year 1905, a swan and a deer. The large red tallit bag is embroidered 1911 with a floral pattern and a star of David.
The Ashkenazic tradition is that a tallit gadol is worn only after one’s wedding, and this is what appears to be the situation here. Apparently, the owner married approximately six years after his bar mitzvah, at the age of 19.
The large case is 24×28 cm.
The small case is 22×16 cm.
Moderate condition. Slight tears in the lining, rubbed velvet.
