First edition of the Bible edited by Johannes Leusden (1624-1699), a well-known scholar who spent many years researching and examining early editions. This edition is considered to be the complete edition and was later printed more times.
General title page illustrated with Biblical events and a Latin title page, and illustrated title pages for each section. With the proofreaders’ introduction, a long introduction in Latin from Leusden, and an “approbation” of the academics. With a table of haftarot according to all customs at the end of the book. The verses are marked with numbers, and each fifth verse is marked with a Hebrew letter.
Blemished leather binding. The leaves were drawn on in the margins in red. A few aging stains. Part 4 was bound before part 3. Very fine condition.
