Work on the Taryag Mitzvos, counting the 613 mitzvos and the division between the negative and positive commandments, with the details of the mitzvah and their laws – a summary by an unknown author. Ashkenaz, c. [1800]. [45] leaves, 30×23 cm. Complete manuscript, arranged in a nice format, in a nice, script Ashkenazic hand. The number of each mitzvah is written in large, square letters, followed by the name of the mitzvah and then its details. Unidentified author, but obviously only an outstanding Torah scholar would be able to write such a precise summary. Starts with the author’s introduction, which ends with the note that the book was written for his disciple, Meir Hirsch, who memorized all 613 mitzvos at the age of 8, but then forgot them. Bound in a magnificent, leather binding. Aging stains. Very fine condition.
