Signature of Rabbi Gavriel Dessauer in a number of locations. The leaves contain dozens of glosses in his hand, some signed — halachic comments and an occasional difference of opinion with the author.
Rabbi Gavriel Dessauer (1805-1878) studied under the Chatam Sofer. In an approbation to Rabbi Dessauer’s work, the Chatam Sofer bestowed many honorifics on his student. He was known as the rabbi of באלאטן-פעקאיאר, where he served as rabbi for close to forty years. He authored Yad Gavriel on the Shulchan Aruch, Kesset Gavriel on Job, and more.
