(German)
Hand-painted engraving prepared for a peep show with the title “La Ville de Jerusalem” appearing in mirror-image on top. This engraving was published as part of a series of engravings released in Augsburg during that period. Over the course of the performance that took place mainly at fairs, they would set up the engraving with candles behind it in a box, and viewers would look through an eye hole, which would emphasize the details of the picture.
The name of this series was Collection des Prospects , published by Akademische Kunsthandlung, Augsburg, late 18th century.
