Extremely important – lengthy letter – three complete pages handwritten and signed by the renowned gaon, the G-dly Kabbalist Rabbi Naftali Hertz Scheuer, av beit din of Magentza, one of the leading rabbis of Ashkenaz in his generation. Mainz/Magentza, Rosh Chodesh Kislev, 1805. Very rare.
Content of the letter: “With respect to a person [from Tirer] who, aside from deciding some matters in issur v’hetter , with no rabbinic ordination even some treifot have come through him. In his letter, Rabbi Hertz describes the entire progression of the affair, and writes the Metz community – located right next to Tirer. The local beit din must thoroughly investigate this matter and issue a judgement.
