Three volumes of the Mishnah Berurah (Parts I, III and IV) that were printed in the author’s lifetime. Each of the volumes bears the word “proofread” [‘מוגה’] written by the great rabbi of the Jewish people, Rabbi Yisrael Meir HaKohen of Radin, known as ‘The Chafetz Chaim.’
As is known, the Chafetz Chaim was particular to check for printing errors in the books he sold, so as not to transgress by thievery or fraud. Each book that was checked was marked “mugah” in his hand. Many of these markings have disappeared over the years due to rebinding or erasure.
Part I: Warsaw, 1896.
Part III: Warsaw, 1891.
Part IV: Warsaw, 1912.
Overall fine condition.
