Tikkun Kriah LeChol Laylah VeYom. Includes Tikkun Laylah, Tikkun HaYom, tractate Avot, prayers and supplications. [Edited by Nathan of Gaza]. Amsterdam, [1666].
In the year of printing, 1666, the activity of Shabbetai Tzvi reached its peak; it was then he announced the total cancellation of all the fasts. In that year he also sacrificed the Passover sacrifice.
The ‘Tikkun’ was edited by the false prophet Nathan of Gaza. The introduction behind the title page opens with the Hebrew words: “This day is a day of tidings, the religion of nightingale has arrived” and ends with the words “to redeem our souls from capture, G-d gave Tzvi a crown.” And, as mentioned on the title page, the chronogram of the year was ‘מושיע’ [‘savior’].
That year, several editions of the Tikkun were printed. The Bibliography of the Hebrew Book describes several of them and their variations. The edition before us is not listed among them and it differs from all of them. In the computerized Otzar HaSefer HaIvri , this edition was listed according to the copy before us.
