In 1702, he immigrated to Eretz Yisrael and established a yeshiva for the study of kabbala. Two years later, the leaders of the Jerusalem kollel sent him on a fundraising mission to Europe. He was successful, and was then sent twice more on such missions. He passed away during his third fundraising trip in Mantua, 1714 (Shiluchei Eretz Yisrael, p. 347-348).The Torah leaders of his generation greatly admired him, per the approbations to the Eshel Avraham written by his disciple, R’ Mordechai Leib Ashkenazi (Furth, 1701).
