According to the detail on the title page, the year of print is 1790, but in Otzar HaSefer HaIvri (Vinograd) the year of print appears as 1840.
Rabbi Meir ibn Gabbai was a Kabbalist from among the Spanish exiles. He arrived in Egypt and possibly also reached Safed. He is considered one of the leading Kabbalists, and the Mahara”l and the Shla”h cite him and rely on him in their books. He also authored Derech Emunah . His son-in-law, Rabbi Shneur Falcon, assisted him with the printing. (Refer to Arzei HaLevanon ; Otzar Rabbanim 12795; Italiah-Girodni -40 90).
