Torah breastplate. France? [1810].
26×23 cm. Brass, leaf-shaped plate, with margins made of dots. Another plate is fastened to the first, decorated with cut-out work and repoussé leaves, in 18th-century style.
Engraved dedication at center: כת זה נדבת כ לעזאר באטניץ טז אדר ראשון תקע לפק. 1810 was, in fact, a leap year. Two holes on both sides that apparently held another design that has been lost over the years. Two additional holes at top with original chain.
Fine condition.
