Words of aggada and mussar written by Rabbi Elyashiv regarding Rosh Hashana and the blowing of the shofar.
Discussion on the words of the Rambam regarding the fact that the Shofar is blown in order to “awake the sleepy from their slumber..”; to confuse Satan; Rosh Hashana is like a birth, just as whatever happens to a pregnant woman affects her baby, this special time affects the Jewish Nation; a person is judged at the time according to his current situation; the more purified a person, the more significance he culls from the Shofar blowing; every passing year is a station in a person’s life, and a person must check how many stations he has passed through and how distant he remains from the goal; novellae regarding “ha’adam nidon al pi rubo”; the joy of the meals on Rosh Hashana, despite it being the day of judgment; ideas quoted from the leading mussar advocates regarding Jonah the Prophet and “some acquire their world in one hour,” and more.
Rabbi Elyashiv concludes his words with verses from Jeremiah.
