Torah novaelle in the handwriting of Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv from 1953 [‘Which I delivered in Tiferet Bachurim in Parshat Shekalim 1953’] when he was 43 years old.
Novaelle on aggadah on the ‘law book’ of Sedom, there is nothing which can prevent murder and bloodshed – neither hanging nor the sword will stop the evildoers, the only guarantee that order will be maintained is faith in God and acceptance of the Torah. Novaelle on the topic of ‘It is a known halacha that Eisav hates Yaakov’, and how this is clearly revealed today, mashbi’in al hashekalim, each person’s obligation to give half a shekel and how the Jews’ shekels defeated Haman’s shekels, and more.
Rabbi Yosef Shalom Elyashiv [1910-2012] was born in the city of Siauliai, his parents’ only son after 17 years of marriage. Immigrated with his family to Israel in 1924 and settled in the Meah Shearim neighborhood of Jerusalem. Served as a Dayan on the Beit Din HaGadol, and later became the greatest halachic adjudicator of the generation.
