On the leaf preceding the title page, there is long and interesting notation handwritten and signed by the gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Romm: “May the merit of our rabbi, the gaon Rabbi Ya’akov of Lissa, protect me and my family members … to pay all my debts and marry my daughters to Torah scholars … and that I will be able to write … novellae … and in-depth studies … the words of the one waiting for salvation, may it come soon, Eliyahu … Romm.”
The gaon Rabbi Eliyahu Romm (1872-1959), Rosh Av Beit Din of Jerusalem, was successor to Rabbi Tzvi Pesach Frank, disciple of Rabbi Shmuel Salant and the Mahari”l Diskin.
