Torat Menachem , Torah thoughts and Chassidut by the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov, as recorded by his disciple Rabbi Yuzpa of Zelin, with a compilation of sayings by his disciples Rabbi Tzvi HaKohen of Rimanov, Rabbi Shalom Rokeach of Belz, and Chassidic leaders. The Admo”r of Stroznitz, Rabbi Yissachar Dov Berish Hager’s owner’s stamps.
Before us is the first edition of the work by the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Rimanov, who was one of the leading Admo”rim of all generations. He was very involved in leveraging livelihood for the Jewish people. A segulah is known in his name to say Parashat HaMann on the third day of the week the Torah portion Beshalach is read.
The printer Rabbi Yoel Moshe Margaliot of Rimanov wrote in his foreword and at the end of the work Torat Menachem about the transcription of the manuscript that was brought to print here for the first time. The last leaves contain ‘Kuntress Zichron Tzaddikim’ with Torah thoughts from his primary disciple and successor, the Admo”r Rabbi Tzvi Hirsch HaKohen, as well as from the words of the Admo”r Rabbi Shalom of Belz, the Admo”r Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum of Sighet and others. In Belz, they were particular to not print Torah thoughts of their Admo”rim, yet before us are Torah thoughts from the Admo”r the Sar Shalom, who passed way only about 20 years before this book was printed.
The Admo”r Rabbi Yissachar Dov Berish Hager [d. 1968] of the Kossov-Vizhnitz dynasty, succeeded his father as Admo”r of Stroznitz in Vienna. During the Holocaust, he fled Vienna and settled in Golders Green, London, where he established a study hall. (For more about him, refer to Alfasi, Encyclopedia L’Chassidut II , 474.)
