This edition of the Talmud was at the center of a sharp controversy with the Proops printers of Amsterdam. They claimed that they had exclusive rights to print the Talmud, received with the approbations to print their edition of the Talmud, and that this Sulzbach edition violated their rights. This controversy generated the severe decision by the Vaad Arba Artzot that it is forbidden to read from these tractates and they should be burned.
