This volume includes deep mussar talks delivered on Shabbat by the rosh yeshivah, the gaon Rabbi Chaim Shmuelevitz. The first talk begins on Shabbat parashat Ha’azinu 1971, and continues in sequence through the final talk in this volume, about a year later, on parashat Netzavim-VaYelech 1972. Approximately [20] unknown index leaves for all the talks appear at the end of the volume. The stencil leaves are placed in a beautiful unprofessional homemade binding, [many of the leaves are detached], with the words “Sichot Mussar 1972” handwritten on the spine.
This stencil volume was gifted by Rabbi Chaim Shmuelevitz to his friend, the gaon Rabbi Chaim Zeitchik, the final remnant of the generation of the giants of ba’alei mussar , considered the ‘elder ba’al mussar ‘ of the previous generation. Rabbi Chaim Shmuelevitz wrote a beautiful dedication at the top of the title page: ‘B”H, VaYakhel 1973, to my dear friend the gaon, well-versed in fear of G-d, Rabbi Chaim Zeitchik, shlit”a, a present as a sign of our eternal friendship, Ch. Shmuelevitz.’ The front flyleaf bears Rabbi Chaim Zeitchik’s owner’s stamp. A handwritten gloss appears on one of the leaves referencing Rabbi Chaim Zeitchik’s sefer .
