The pitchers were used for purifying the dead before burial. In many communites, it was customary to pour 9 measures [“kabin”] of water at one time, therefore it was necessary to use large receptacles.
Unusual memento from a prominent Hungarian community that was destroyed during the Holocaust.
Usage marks and wear on the white paint. Fine-very fine condition.
