Background: The book of Tehillim was printed in the center of the page, surrounded by the commentary. In this book, the author quotes an interpretation from the Vilna Gaon while he was still alive, as he writes on page 53, column 2: “And it is possible there is more according to what I heard, it seems to me, in the name of the Gaon and pious one of Vilna…”
Unique Features: Extraordinarily rare. The well known bibliographer, with tremendous expertise in the Hebrew printing presses of Eastern Europe, Chaim Lieberman, wrote that this rare book is the first Hebrew book printed in Lithuania , refer to C. Lieberman, in the Alexander Marx Jubilee Volume (New York, 1943) page 17.
Condition: Fine. Professional restoration in the margins of the title page and the last leaf with no damage to text. Tiny tears on a few leaves in the bottom corner of the leaf in the white margins. Magnificent leather binding.
