The Diary of Anne Frank was written by Annelies Marie “Anne” Frank (1929-1945), a native of Frankfurt, during the period of two years in which she hid together with her family in a hiding place in Amsterdam. The diary was discovered after the family had been sent to the camps, and was given after the war to Anne’s father, the only one of the family to survive. The book became an international bestseller as soon as it was published and is considered one of the most important books of the 20th century. It has been translated to over 70 languages, including this first translation to Yiddish.

This lexicon with its dictionary and index of Biblical words became the classic work and basis for future studies of language by experts such as William Gouge and Thomas Fuller. The author, Edward Leigh, was a Puritan. He authored a number of works; this is his most significant. Different editions were printed in many languages. This first edition of the work (the first section of two books) is very rare.

Includes an article by Zev Jabotinsky regarding the soldiers in Palestine, a full list of Jewish soldiers who served in the British army (including from other countries such as Australia, South Africa and India), a list of those who received medals and personal stories. The second section features 364 pages of pictures of Jewish soldiers on chrome paper.

Rabbi Zalman Spitzer (1826-1893) was a prominent Jewish leader. He was a son-in-law of the Chatam Sofer and studied by his son, Rabbi Avraham Shmuel Binyamin, and the Maharam Schick. In 1871, a polemic started with the community leaders who supported the Reformers and were backed by the government. They wanted to change the prayerbooks and remove all mention of Zion and the future redemption. Rabbi Spitzer organized a counter-meeting in which over 500 people participated – a quarter of the Vienna community. This booklet (from 1872) includes the speech that Rabbi Spitzer delivered at this meeting. The second section features a list of 389 rabbis who supported his position includng the Ketav Sofer, Maharam Schick and the Divrei Chaim of Sanz.Due to its significance, this booklet has been digitized by the Bayerische Staatsbibliothek. 23 cm.
