The posters describe the gemach’s activities and appeals for donations. The posters are signed by the “Beit Din Tzedek L’Kol MiKehillot Ha’Ashkenazim” and are signed in the name of Rabbi Yosef Chaim Sonnenfeld, Rabbi Zvi Pesach Frank and others. Fine-very fine condition.

Early, Interesting Letter Opposing Television. 1954

Letter opposing the television sent by Rabbi Yitzchak Zvi Sofer to Rabbi Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Deutsch of Helmetz. Printed as a poster. 1954. [1] leaf, 25×29 cm. Rabbi Yitzchak Zvi Sofer [1888-1966] was the Rabbi of Temeshvar and Fabrik. In [1951] he immigrated to Jerusalem. He authored “Misaper HaSofer” and more, refer to: HaChatam Sofer V’Talmidav, p. 648. He sent this response to Rabbi Chananya Yom Tov Lipa Deutsch, Rabbi of Helmetz and later Cleveland, author of “Teharat Yom Tov” and “Yesod Yosef” with supplements and commentaries. One of the first posters addressing the issue of television.

Poster. Advertisement for the sale of shmura matza, German and Hungarian, Budapest, Hungary, 1902. Height 590 cm. Width 35 cm. Pictorial-business poster for the sale of matza flour that took place on January 30, 1902, in Budapest. The poster was made for a factory that made only matza flour under the supervision of the Chief Rabbi – Rabbi Yosef Rozenberg and his assistant, Rabbi Yehoshua Zilberstein. On the top of the page is a picture of the factory and underneath are listed the various types of flour for matzot among them shmura flour. Tiny tears without loss. Fold marks. Fine-very fine condition.

[Jerusalem], Zukerman press. [c. 1930]. [1] leaf, 47×31 cm. The poster notes that offenders that publicly desecrate the Shabbat remove themselves from the Jewish Nation. As long as they do not repent, they are considered wicked and it is prohibited to associate with them. Fine condition.

Proclamation of Deliverance for children survivors of the Second World War: The Project for the Children of Israel. Tel Aviv, Iyar 5704 (1944). Height 49.5 cm, width 33.5 cm. Large proclamation for the children survivors of the Second World War signed (in printed letters) by tens of Roshei Yeshivot, Rabbis of cities, Admorim and communal leaders such as: the Imrei Emet, the Rabbi of Belz, the Rabbi of Tshortkov, Rabbi Issar Zalman Meltzer, Rabbi Eliezer Yehuda Finkel and others. The proclamation was issued in the month of Iyar (May-June) with the ending of the Second World War. What makes the proclamation special is that it was signed by all of the Rabbis of the Congregation of Israel, Ashkenazim and Sefardim, Lithuanians and Chassidim. Its aim was the establishment of the Project for the Children of Israel in order to arrange places of absorption and places of Torah, agricultural and vocational education. Filing holes, small tears in the margins, in good condition.

Rabbi Menachem Mordechai Frankel Teumim (author of ‘Be’er Ha’Avot and more) gave the eulogy. * Tinu Kavod L’Torah. Announcement regarding a reception for the sons of Admor Yisrael of Vishnitz, when they arrived in Jerusalem. Jerusalem, Eretz Yisrael press. [1935]. [1] leaf, 30×25 cm. Notice by Rabbi Meir David on behalf of Agudat Yisrael HaChassidim. The Admor’s sons visited Jerusalem on the 13th of Iyar 1935. Fine condition.

Parody creation of the Artist Dosh (Kariel Gardosh) by order of the Ministry of Hasbara (Public Information), with the word Yisrael filled with cartoons and scenes from the Israeli atmosphere of the 1960s such as a dove with an olive branch holding a sword, new immigrants, Ministry of Absorption and more, and concluding with the famous character of Srulik – the personification of Israel. Minor tears and creases, artistically restored. Stuck on linen cloth for preservation purposes, in very good condition.

Color Poster LeAsirenu. Collection for the release of prisoners. The Shamir Brothers. HaVaad HaLeumi ,1946-1947. 46 x 32 cm, LeAsirenu – Public Association of the HaVaad HaLeumi which was set-up in 1946 to handle the matter of Jewish prisoners and detainees held by the British.The head of the Vaad was Simcha Even-Zohar, supported by the Chief Rabbis. The brothers Gabriel and Maxim Shamir (Shpatelovitz), were graphic designers from the mid 1930s until the 1990s. Their most well-known work is the symbol of the State of Israel. Tears with some missing material with artistic make-up. The poster was stuck on linen material for preservation purposes. In average condition.

Poster for the Kupat HaSiyua HaYerushalmit, 1920s. Poster opposing non-religious schooling, Beit Sefer Beit Yaakov, Jerusalem, 1940s. Poster appealing to people to adopt the children in the ma’abarot and immigration camps, Mifal Korat Gag, 1940s. Recommendation poster by Rabbi Alter Meir Sofer regarding the Rabbi of Kalish. 1950. Overall fine condition. * Collection of documents relating to the mandate and the pioneering settlements [11 leaves]. Appointment of a judge; sale of a stock in the “Chevrat HaBayit”; documents from the Keren HaYesod and the Zionist Organization; Land purchase in Givat Shaul; Letter to the Kol Yerushalayim radio station; letter of the “Va’ad Ha’ir L’Toshvei Yerushalayim” to Dr. Zweig signed by Yosef Meyuchas. Letters regarding the pioneering settlement in Kiryat Anavi with Dr. Zweig’s speech. Consolation letter from the Kupat HaTamuchui of Rabbi Uziel. Poster Taarucha Matmedet shel Melacha, Association of Artisans and Light Industry, (Hitachdut Baalei Melacha VeTaasiya Zeira). Jerusalem, 1950-1960. 46 x 64 cm. The beginnings of the Association of Work and Industry in Israel (Hitachdut HaMelacha VeHataasiya BeYisrael) was in 1908, as a center for artisans which was organized by Menachem Sheinkin in Tel Aviv. In the year 1954, all of the associations of artisans were united into the Hitachdut Baalei Melacha VeTaasiya Zeira. Designer: Margolin. Light tears with a loss of material. Completed artistically. In good condition.

Poster. Visit Palestine. Franz Krausz, 1936

Colored poster, Visit Palestine, from a series by the Tourist Association of Palestine, Franz Krausz, 1936. 82×55 cm. Lithograph. Illustration depicts Jerusalem in the 1930s in vivid colors; the Dome of the Rock, parks and alleys and the homes of Jerusalem in the background. This work earned artist Franz Krausz much renown. The poster was printed by the Tourist Association of Palestine which hired Krausz to promote Zionist tourism in Palestine. Paradoxically, this poster is used today for pro-Palestinian propaganda. Krausz (1905-1998) was raised in Austria. He learned art and design and worked in Berlin. When the Nazis rose to power, he and his wife immigrated to Palestine in 1934 and he started working for Dubek and Elite. Within a wood frame with matting and glass. 100×72 cm., including the frame. Light creases, fine-very fine condition.

Large, colored poster, “Mizrach” from the Eitz Chaim and Bikur Cholim institutions. Monson press, end of the 1930s. Lithographic print. Vivid colors. 50×65 cm. Large, advertisement poster based on an earlier poster from the beginning of the century. In this newer version, the pictures of the holy cities were switched with pictures symbolizing the transition to the new city of Jerusalem: Eitz Chaim institutions, Bikur Cholim and the Knesset Yisrael neighborhood. The printing press also moved outside of the Old City walls. Some pictures from the original poster remain: pictures of the tombs of the dynasty of David, Rachel’s Tomb and the Temple Mount at center. This poster was apparently distributed as a gift to donors to the joint fund for the hospital and yeshiva which was operated by a fundraiser in America. Small tears in a number of folds. Fine condition.

Collected and printed by Rabbi Pinchas Elishberg, author of Encyclopedia Ivrit Shleimah – Yiddishe Groise Encyclopedia. Rabbi Elishberg, was born in Mir Russia, in the 1930’s. He lived in Riga, and was killed in the Holocaust. Rare pamphlets.

About 30 issues and excerpts from various newspapers, Hamevasser, Hamodia, Halapid Neirot Shabbat, Yiddishe Vort, Hachaim Das Leben, Das Torah Leben, Zgerzsher Yiddishe Shtimeh, Haeidah, Haatid, Shearim, Digleinu, Hachaim, and more. From the 20’s until the 70’s, most of the issues are from the 30’s until the 50’s. Includes, among the rest, a collection of newspapers about: the state of health of the Admor of Gur, the arrival of the Admor Rebbe Aharon of Belz to Eretz Yisrael, the third convention of Agudat Yisrael – Jerusalem, [1941], the deaths of: Rabbi Yosef Chaim Zonnenfeld, Rabbi Chaim Ozer Grodzinski, the Admors of Belz, of Hosiatin, and of Chortkov. A collection of newspapers from the years of the Holocaust about what was happening to the communities in Poland. A large and important collection, in a folder. Generally in good condition.

* Participation in the public auction and receipt of a “participant’s number” are tantamount to the confirming and agreeing that the
recipient of the number is familiar with the regulations, procedures, and conditions of our exhibitions and public sales. Any problems
arising during the auction sale or afterwards as a result of a purchase will be resolved by the purchaser and the management of the company
in according with accepted practice.
* Since the company is merely the organizer and administrator of the exhibition and auction, and is not the owner of the items themselves,
it is hereby agreed and stipulated that in no case will the Company be responsible to the purchasers after the transfer of the payment to the
seller- owners. Thus, in case the payment received from a purchaser has already been transferred to the owner, and even if the complaint
or claim made by the purchaser is justified, and we make every effort to have his money retuned to him by the owner, we shall be under
no obligations to do so, and shall not engage in any legal proceedings after it has been handed over to the owner, though we shall agree
to provide the purchaser with suitable documentations on our part to enable him to engage in such legal proceedings against the owner.
* Upon receipt of the “participant’s number”, in person or via telephone, the potential buyer agrees and obligates himself not to prosecute
us or place a lawsuit against us in the event of damage caused or error in the catalogue description. Any complaints or claim after transfer
of the money to the seller, are only valid against the seller himself.
Prices and Estimates:
Participations in the auction is expressed: (a) by the personal presence of the purchaser in the hall; (b) by the presence of his representative;
(c) by means of written or telephoned bids empowering the management of the company to purchase various items for the person ordering
them (d) Via the Internet.
* The presence of the purchaser’s representative obliges him to make good his purchases, with whatever this entails. The company shall
not agree to obligate his sender or to free the representative of any obligation, even though the representative may fill his sender’s name
explicitly in our forms.
* If we receive a telephone or written order for a certain item, we shall strive to act in the interest of the person giving the order, just as if
he himself was in the hall. We, however, are under no obligation to obtain the item for him.
* We are under no obligation to accept any bid, including the highest bid, even though the purchaser or his representative is personally
present in the hall and participating in the auction.
* The auction itself is administered by announcing numbers in US$, though the actual payment may be made in either Shekalim in
accordance with the average rate of exchange which will be announced at the auction hall or at the day of the payment (The highest) or in USD.
* A 24% commission charge is added to all payment made by purchasers up to $500,000. 20% is added up to $501,000. A Vat ia added only on this comission charges. This percentage is an integral part of the bid accepted by the auctioneer during
the auction, and all obligations, etc, apply also to this percentage
* A foreign resident will be exempt from VAT only if the item purchased is shipped outside of the country by the company without its
guarantee and subject to receipt of an export entry from the custom authorities. The purchaser will cover all related expenses.
* Bank and personal checks are accepted tentatively, until they are honored by the bank.
* Payment by cash, checks or transfers within the country will be accepted without further charge. Foreign checks, credit cards (from
Israel) will be charged an additional 1.5%. bank transfers from foreign countries will be charged an additional 1.5% min. $30. Credit card
payments from foreign countries will be charged an additional 3%.
* Each item is accompanied by an estimate value made by our experts. There is no guarantee that the item will not be sold for a lower
estimate nor that the actual price of the item will not be much higher than the highest estimate value. This paragraph does not detract from
our consistent defense of the minimum price determined by the owner of the item.
Additional information and conditions:
* The purchaser or his representative will claim the purchased item as soon as possible. We request that he appear within seven days to
make the payment and collect the acquisition: under no circumstances is this to take place after 14 days from actual date of auction. After 14 days storage charges may be charged of $5.00 per lot per day. The purchaser himself is solely responsible for the dispatch of items to his home, in any way that he deems fit. The purchaser is responsible for the costs involved in such dispatch. Optional shipping insurance is available.
* The purchased item will not leave the company’s premises until payment is made.
* If payment is not received within 14 days of the auction, Winners reserves the right to cancel the sale unilaterally, without foregoing
their claim for commission.
* ATTENTION OWNERS: The company is not responsible for the actual carrying- out of payments undertaken by the purchasers during
the auction. In the event that obligations by the purchaser are not honored, we shall support the former owner of the item is taking steps
to obtain the payment owing him, but we shall not engage in legal procedures against purchasers. We shall proceed in all ways we find
suitable, but we are under no obligations to do so.
* Purchasers and sellers agree to be considered legal parties in every way in case we exercise the rights we are hereby granted to engage in
legal proceedings, or any other accepted steps against a party who does not honor its obligations.
* The Hebrew text of the catalogue is the correct version, and overrides any addition, omission or change in the English translation
