An impressive album book edited by Raphael Abramowitz containing 530 varied photographs [the size of an entire page] from various Jewish cities and villages in Eastern Europe, which depict Jewish community life in pre-Holocaust Eastern Europe: photographs of Jewish figures, synagogues, streets, stores, and daily life.
The book is divided into two parts – photographs of streets and buildings in Jewish cities, and photographs of Jewish figures. It also contains photographs of important Rebbes [The Spinka Rebbe], well-known Rabbis [Rabbi Elchanan Wasserman, Rabbi Aharon Kotler], photographs of important funerals, yeshivot, pioneers and more. Each photograph is described in Yiddish and English. Most of the photographs were taken by Roman Vishniac, M. Kipnis and Alter Kacyzna.
Original stained cloth binding [with a picture – a woodcut by the artist Shlomo Yudovin]. A few leaves are detached.

Special edition for those who studied the Daf Yomi and Mishna Yomit (the first work of the Mishnah Yomit operation), Munich, 1947. Published by the “Va’ad L’Hotzat Sefarim” of the Vaad Hatzalah. This was the first work printed in the framework of the Daf Yomi and Mishnah Yomit. It was followed by three other tractates. The book opens with a letter from the Vaad Hatzala, Germany, followed by a chart for the Daf Yomi and Mishnah Yomit for 1947-1952. Underneath the chart is a special prayer in memory of the Holocaust victims. [1], 31, 10, [1], 16-25 leaves. Detached bindings, moderate condition.

With nice colored illustrations decorating 13 pages. Printed in Munich after the Holocaust by the “Vaad Hatzalah L’Sheirit HaPleita,” headed by Rabbi Naftali Baruch and Rabbi Aviezer Burstein. This is a rare, unlisted book that was published for the refugees. 150, [1] leaves. 14 cm. Fine condition. Original binding with caption: Vaad Hatzala. The spine is slightly peeling.
Yiddish-Hebrew dictionary, by Yisrael Yevareichu “Printed for the children of the She’erit Hapleita in the camps in the German and American zones”. Kassel, Germany, 1947. An illustrated title page with a disparaging cartoon in which Hitler’s head is depicted peeking over a swastika holing a knife, with a Torah scroll and holy items in flames beneath him. In the center is a large Star of David, surrounded by illustrations which express the Jewish revival: various figures of Jews from around the world facing the Land of Israel, the Hebrew University building, a Jewish prayer quorum in the synagogue during the reading of the Torah, and Moshe holding the Tablets of the Covenant. One of the rarer She’erit Hapleita books. [4] 262 pages. Original cardboard binding, slightly bent. Fine condition.
