Yiddish-Hebrew dictionary, by Yisrael Yevareichu “Printed for the children of the She’erit Hapleita in the camps in the German and American zones”. Kassel, Germany, 1947. An illustrated title page with a disparaging cartoon in which Hitler’s head is depicted peeking over a swastika holing a knife, with a Torah scroll and holy items in flames beneath him. In the center is a large Star of David, surrounded by illustrations which express the Jewish revival: various figures of Jews from around the world facing the Land of Israel, the Hebrew University building, a Jewish prayer quorum in the synagogue during the reading of the Torah, and Moshe holding the Tablets of the Covenant. One of the rarer She’erit Hapleita books. [4] 262 pages. Original cardboard binding, slightly bent. Fine condition.
