Unique features: Two sections in original parchment bindings; nice, complete set. Stamp of Rabbi Zvi Hirsh Lehren at the start of section two. As known, this work was involved in a polemic.
Background: Rabbi Zvi Hirsh Lehren (1784-1854) headed the Pekidim V’Amraclim in Amsterdam. He was both well-versed in Torah and wealthy. He battled strongly to maintain religious principles and dedicated himself to assisting the poor of the Holy Land.
Condition: Very fine-excellent. Minimal aging stains.
Glosses on the Talmud which were found written on the pages of the Talmud of Rabbi Bezalel Regensburg of Prague, author of Pitchei Niddah and Horeh Gever.

Background: There are innovative responsa and sometimes puzzling rulings in the responsa Beit Yaakov by Rabbi Yaakov, Av Beit Din of Zoizmir [Dyhernfürth, 1692], which were challenged by his contemporaries such as the Chacham Zvi and the author of Shevut Yaakov. In the book before us, his grandson comes to fight his grandfather’s battle and respond to their criticism.

Chiddushei HaRashb”a on Tractate Chulin, by Rabbeinu Shlomo son of Avraham Aderet.

Unique features: Very impressive copy. White, quality paper. Wide margins. This is an impressive edition of the Chiddushei HaRashba, part of a vast project to print Hebrew books by Daniel Bomberg in Venice. Soon after this book was printed, the printer finished printing the Babylonian Talmud and started printing the Jerusalem Talmud.
Daniel Bomberg (c. 1475-1549) was a Christian printer who studied printing in Antwerp. He moved to Venice while young, and opened a press in 1515. He developed new Hebrew letter fonts and made a massive financial investment in the printing of about 200 Hebrew books. He printed “Mikraot Gedolot” on the Tanach, Tosefta, the first complete printed edition of the Babylonian Talmud, the Jerusalem Talmud and Hilchot HaRi”f.
Condition: Very fine-excellent. Minimal aging stains. Minimal professionally restored worming marks in the blank margins. New, deluxe binding.

Content: Includes a compilation on the laws of Gittin with a separate title page, authored together with his brother, Rabbi Nosson Meyuches. Closes with sermons by the author’s disciple, Rabbi Yom Tov Alnaqua , author of Shivtat Yom Tov.
Unique features: Unique copy, thick quality paper with especially wide margins.Owner signature on title page: “I purchased this work..from Rabbi Yaakov Avraham Giron [author of Shu”t Abir Yaakov], in exchange for the work…that i gave him…Menachem…”. The writer was the rabbi of Adrianople, author of the prominent Devar Mishpat, Divrei Menachem, Devar Emet, Marpeh Lashon and Menachem Aveilim. He passed away in Jerusalem in 1855.
Background: The Chida wrote that the author “was famed for the his clear, straightforward thought and explanations.”

Elucidations and novellae on the Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim by Rabbi Shmuel son of Yosef, dayan in Krakow.

Unique features: Nice copy with wide margins. Printed on thick, quality paper. Features approbations from Rabbi Yitzchak Abuhav, Rabbi Yaakov Sasportas, the rabbis of the “Arba Aratzot” that gathered at the “Vaad Pinczow” and the author of the Beit Hillel.
Subject matter: The section featuring the laws of Shabbat is titled “Olat Shabbat.” This is one of the largest works on Shulchan Aruch Orech Chaim, his take on the halachot is quoted as practical halacha by the poskim, though the Magen Avraham often strongly refuted his opinion (refer to the preface of the Magen Avraham, written by the author’s son).
Condition: Fine condition. Antiquated wood boards covered with leather, slightly worn with signs of clasps. Minimal aging stains.
Novellae and elucidations regarding nazirut, arranged according to Hilchot Nazirut of the Rambam, by Rabbi Yitzchak Hutner.

Background: Rabbi Hunter was twenty six-years-old when this work was printed; a talmid in Knesset Yisrael, Slobodka-Hebron. In 1925, he immigrated with the group of students who established the yeshiva in Hebron. During this period, he became acquainted with Rabbi Kook and was charmed by his personality. He returned to Warsaw, his birthplace, before the pogroms of 1929.This is the only one of Rabbi Hutner’s works relating to responsa and in-depth studies; all of his other works relate to tenets of Jewish thought and philosophy.
Condition: Excellent.

Bound in a velvet-covered cardboard binding, with a piece of leather at center bearing the embossing: “as a souvenir to the author’s grandson, Rabbi Yitzchak Avigdor son of Moshe Lantzor Bengazi…”
Condition: The leaves of the books are in excellent condition. The spine is blemished.
