Fundamental and important book on the life and works of the Vilna Gaon. With a proclamation from Vilna rabbis that no one should listen to or believe anything about the Gaon’s conduct or rulings in his name. Page 118 bears a kol koreh from the dayanim that anyone who possesses a letter/manuscript from the Gr”a should inform Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Levine.
There is an extensive and important section at the back of the book called Aliyat Kir with a bibliographic list of 54 books and manuscripts by the Gr”a that were known to Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel Levine.
Owner’s signature on the book’s title page: “Natan Koronil” along with many owner’s stamps along the length of the book, in Hebrew and in a foreign language: “HaTzv”i Shalom Azoulay … of Sefrou” (Morocco). The front flyleaf bears a lengthy inscription in Oriental script.
