B’Akharith HaYamim : “Dialogue between a father and his son … because the Jewish people is sanctified to Hashem, and they are faithful … I did this by request of one of the leading members of Christian clergy.” By Rabbi Avraham Ya’akov Gershon Lesser. Chicago, 1897. Only edition. Lengthy dedication on the flyleaf from the author to Rabbi Moshe Leib Bernstein, rabbi of Elizabeth, New Jersey.
The book is in a question-and-answer format between father and son. In the preface, the author relates that his Christian friend, whose name he does not mention, returned from a trip to the Land of Israel which is undergoing resurrection and his heart tells him that it is time to find grace … and he will say this in the capital city of the United States … to speak to the heart of the president of the country, to make his recommendation at the king’s table … and as such I am obligated to support him. Unique work written by request of a Christian clergyman. The author was an expert rabbi, who even received a beautiful approbation from the Netzi”v for his other book, Ohel Moed-Beit Midrash .
