Interesting letter handwritten and signed by Rabbi Avraham Chaim Daniziger, Rosh Yeshivah of Alexander. 1 Adar II, 1930s.
This letter was sent to Rabbi Shmuel Aharon – this being R’ Shmuel Aharon Webber (later Shazuri), secretary of the chief rabbinate and close confidante of Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook. Rabbi Avraham writes about his earlier intention to travel to the Land of Israel, and that this idea had not yet been actualized due to various delays. “Perhaps we will send several young men studying at our yeshivah, those who must travel.” He asked that R’ Shmuel Aharon take the opportunity to speak to Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Kook on his behalf. This is apparently with respect to arranging “certificates” for immigration to the Land of Israel.
Later on in the letter, Rabbi Chaim writes explaining that his yeshivah is one of the most prominent, and worthy of serious consideration – “Baruch Hashem I can justly say that its value and glory has surpassed all others in our country …” Indeed, it is known that Alexander was one of the top yeshivahs in Eastern Europe.
