Board game ostensibly made for children, but actually a piercing social criticism of antisemitism and the Dreyfus Affair. France, 1898.
The game is based on the French expression “The truth lies in the depths of the well” and the players must descend, passing various figures connected to the Dreyfus affair. The players earn “truth points” depicted as an unclothed woman coming out of a well, in the imagery derived from French trial.
