Eleven letters sent to the great gaon Rabbi David Berlin, Av Beit Din of AH”U, brother of the renowned Rabbi Yeshayah of Pik-Berlin. [1763-1770].

* Letter from R’ Aharon Shlomo Zalman Segal, rabbinic instructor and trustee of the Friedrichstadt community, who was summoned by Rabbi David to come with his knife for examination, to which he replies that he doesn’t know what for, as he has already had the position of rabbinic instructor for 40 years.
* Letter sent from the Leipzig fair of 1768, from a doctor who treated the people from Hamburg who came to the fair. In his letter, the doctor asks the rabbi for a letter of recommendation.
* Emotional letter from Natan Nota of Ozharov about his difficult situation as a result of which his wife and children are imprisoned.
*Letter from 1770 from Tzvi Hirsch son of Elchanan about a ban that was imposed on him.

Rabbi David Berlin [d. 1771] was a rabbinic leader of his generation, Av Beit Din of the AH”U [Altona, Hamburg and Wandsbek] communities until his passing. Before this position, he served as Av Beit Din in Markbreit, as head of the district in Schwarzburg, and as rabbi in Dessau. A responsum from him about the Cleves Get appears in Ohr Yisrael . He gave approbations for many books, including Be’er Ya’akov , Ohr Olam , LeShem Zevach and others.
Various sizes and conditions; most are in fine condition. Minimal blemishes, two small leaves are attached bearing the notation that they were sent to Rabbi David.
