Rabbi Yaakov Chaim Zriehen (1879-1953) was the chief rabbi of Tiberias. The endpaper bears the note: “Zev Zvi Farhand. I received this book as a gift from the Admor…Rabbeinu Moshe Farhand shlit”a, av”d of Makova…” Handwritten notations and corrections.
Rabbi Moshe Farhand (1879-1943) was a dayan in Nitra and Rosh Yeshivah. He later was renowned as the rabbi and Rosh Yeshivah of Makova. Like many other Hungarian rabbis, he was known as the “Gav”d Makova,” but actually served as Admor. He was the patriarch of the Makova dynasty. His Torah thoughts were published in the Ohel Moshe series. His grandson, Rabbi Zev Zvi Farhand, son of Rabbi Mordechai Farhand of Nitra, was av”d in Prague and then Brooklyn after the Holocaust.
