Sefer Chen V’Chavod , drush by the gaon and Kabbalist Chacham Rachamim She’altiel Niño – a leading rabbi in Jerusalem. With approbations, Rabbi Raphael Panijel and Rabbi Ya’akov Shaul Elyashar. Yoel Moshe Salomon Press. Jerusalem, 1884. Only edition. Author’s dedication. Copy that belonged to three gedolei hador (in succession) who left their marks on the sefer .
The author’s handwritten dedication that appears in the flyleaf is to the dayan and Kabbalist Chacham Baruch Pinto, a member of Rabbi Aharon Azriel’s beit din . Beautiful, lengthy dedication in three lines of Oriental script: ” Chen V’Chavod [the name of the sefer , also “grace and honor”] from me, the small one, to [your] honor … the dayan … Rabbi Baruch Pinto … may [you] be blessed from above with the triple Torah blessing. Amen, may it be His Will.”
About two years later (after the printing), the sefer’s recipient, Chacham Baruch Pinto, gave the sefer as a gift to his friend, the dayan and Kabbalist Chacham Chaim Cohen of Tripoli, author of Lev Shome’a , who wrote a beautiful self-dedication in his hand: ‘Bs”d, this sacred gift is from the expert [Chacham Baruch Pinto], emissary for our holy city of Jerusalem, was given to me in 1886, Chaim Cohen, S”T.’
Refer to the Hebrew catalog text for brief biographies of the author and writer of the dedication, Chacham Rachamim She’altiel Niño , the first owner, Chacham Baruch Pinto , and the second owner and writer of the self-dedication, the gaon Rabbi Chaim HaCohen .
