“Protection” coin blessed by the sacred Rabbi Avraham Yechiel Fisch. As was his way, he wrapped it in a white piece of paper upon which he signed his sacred name, “Fisch Avraham.” Tel Aviv, late 20th century.
Those who knew the hidden tzaddik “Rebbi Avraham” – as he was known by those who sought him out – in his lifetime still recall the jar of wrapped segulah coins like this one here, that had a set place on the wide windowsill in Rabbi Avraham Fisch’s home at the edge of the Carmel market in Tel Aviv. When a person felt he needed supernatural salvation, Rebbi Avraham would put his hand into the jar and take a coin wrapped in paper bearing his signature and put it quickly in the petitioner’s hand, while quickly ushering out of his home, often with shouts and curses – and the salvation would always arrive.
