The author, Rabbi Menachem Nachum Friedmann [1879-1933] was born in the town of Shtapensht, to his parents the Admor Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heschel Friedmann of Adzjar and to Rabbetzin Batsheva of the House of Friedmanm. He grew up in Bohosh in the house of his grandfather the Admor Rabbi Yitzhak Friedmann of Bohosh. He was the Rabbi of the community of Itzkan and the nephew of the last Admor of the House of Shtefanesht, He was meant to inherit his place, however, he died a month before his uncle.
