Important and interesting Chaba”d letter from the Admo”r Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn of Lubavitch, sent to the avreich Mr. Silver, son of the av beit din of Springfield. Riga, Latvia, Kislev 1930.
The letter was sent after one of the Rayya”tz’s first journeys to the United States, where the Rebbe met the young man R’ David Silver (later rabbi of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania), son of the renowned gaon Rabbi Eliezer Silver, one of the Lithuanian gedolei hador , and his friends. As can be seen from this letter, the Rebbe keeps in touch with Rabbi David and his friends and he tells them to be consistent in their studies “prodigy after prodigy” until they “reach the heights of those occupied in Torah … in yeshivahs, in the path paved for us by our fathers and rabbis.”
