Rare letter [10 lines] , entirely handwritten and signed by the Admo”r of Sadigura, Rabbi Avraham Ya’akov Friedman, author of Abir Ya’akov . Tel Aviv, Iyyar, 1959. It is very rare to find letters entirely written in his hand.
In this letter, the sacred rebbe turns to the “distinguished activist Rabbi Avraham — deputy mayor of the city” [Tel Aviv?] and requests that he do a favor for a Jew who was wronged “to damage his livelihood.” In the margins of the letter, the sacred rebbe signs with his full signature “Avraham Ya’akov son of Rabbi Yisrael of Sadigura.”
As stated, handwritten letters from the rebbe are extremely rare. The custom in the Ruzhin Chassidic courts is that the gabbai writes letters in the rebbe’s name, as part of the royal etiquette. However, when the rebbe does a favor for a Jew, he does not consider his own honor or the honor of his father’s house, and he takes the quill in his sacred hand and with his own hand, he expresses his request to the deputy mayor, whom he addresses with great and honorable titles, even excessive.
