Eulogy upon the death of Yaakov Yosef Broyde by Rabbi Chaim Berlin. Jerusalem, [1907].
[2], 16 pages. 16 cm.
Yaakov Yosef Broyde was a prominent wealthy Jew in Palestine at the end of 19th century. He was a founder of Rechovot and stringently ensured that the farmers and orchard owners were mitzvah- observant particularly regarding Shemitta. He also established the “Batei Broyde” neighborhood in Jerusalem [between the Machane Yehuda Shuk and Bezalel Street]. Rechovot was established a number of years before his death, and it stands today as a prestigious Israeli city. Rabbi Chaim Berlin, the eulogizer, was a leading Jerusalem rabbi together with Rabbi Shmuel of Salant. Rare.
