The Rishon LeTziyon Rabbi Shlomo Moshe Suzin was among the leading sages of Jerusalem. He served as the Rishon LeTziyon from 1826 until his passing in 1836. He was already counted among the sages of Jerusalem in his youth; he was a tzaddik and a kabbalist and “even non-Jews feared him” ( Zichron Yerushalayim pp. 4). He was Rabbi Menachem Mendel of Shklov’s friend and associate. His responsa are printed in books by contemporary sages.
Rabbi Yisrael Rephael Chaim Segri was among Jerusalem’s sages. He traveled as an emissary for Chevron in 1796 and as an emissary for Tiberias in 1805 and passed away in Jerusalem in 1833 in the midst of fasts and prayers due to the drought ( Toldot Chachmei Yerushalayim Part III, pp. 198; Shluchei Eretz Yisrael pp. 640-642).
Rabbi Chizkiyahu Avraham HaKohen was a grandson of the author of Batei Kehunah . He was a dayan in Rabbi Suzin’s Beit Din. He passed away in 1833 (( Toldot Chachmei Yerushalayim Part III, pp. 194, 211).
