“My blessing to [you] and all that is [yours], a blessing to be inscribed and sealed for a good, sweet year, materially and spiritually, with a blessing for extreme success … for length of days and good years” (From the Rebbe’s blessings in the letter before us)
Letter loaded with abundant blessings for a good year from the Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson of Lubavitch to Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Halperin. Days of Selichot, 1956. Brooklyn, New York.
The letter was sent at the height of the days of Selichot – the eve of Rosh HaShanah, and the Rebbe blesses abundantly: “Peace and blessing towards the new year soon upon us and the entire Jewish people for good and blessing. I hereby express my blessing to [you] and all that is [yours], a blessing to be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year, materially and spiritually.” Here the Rebbe adds to his blessing in his own hand: “For extreme success … length of days and good years, M. Schneerson.”
It is accepted among the elder Chassidim that the blessing “for success” includes everything in it, how much more so the blessing for ” extreme success!” in the Rebbe’s very hand!
The Admo”r Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson [1902-1994], seventh in the dynasty of the Admo”rs of Lubavitch, started serving as Admo”r in 1951 and continued until his passing. He was a tremendous gaon in all aspects of the Torah. His net was – and still is – cast across the entire world.
