“May the G-d of my father come to [your] assistance”
Fascinating sacred letter with a rare and ancient Chassidic aura, written entirely in the sacred penmanship of the Rebbe Rabbi Elazar Twersky of Skver Foltshen. The letter was sent to the well-known Chassid Rabbi Moshe Tuviah Greenzweig, Rabbi Aharon of Belz’ devoted attendat. Brooklyn, New York. [Post-1949].
The letter deals with the tefillin requested by the Foltshener Rebbe from R’ Moshe Tuviah, to be prepared just as “The Belz family has prepared by him”! The rebbe indicates that this was also done for the rabbi, the renowned Chassid, Rabbi Moshe Schuster, a leading Belzer Chassid, “And I sent to [your honor] with the expectation that a person such as [you] would want to fulfill this mitzvah himself.”
The Foltshener Rebbe also writes the renowned Chassid, whose occupation was producing shtreimelach , regarding the shtreimel he ordered from him, “It came out beautifully, and exactly the right size.” The Rebbe expresses surprise in his letter that although he sent $350 for the shtreimel and the tefillin, he has still not received the tefillin. He adds that if this amount was insufficient, he is willing to send more – the important thing is to send the tefillin.
