Question on the laws of lung treifahs sent to the gaon Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot of Brod, handwritten and signed by Rabbi Ya’akov of Bar. Rabbi Ya’akov writes, among other matters, “It has been discussed explicitly by the holy rabbi of Mezhibuzh, and he agreed with those deciding that it is kosher …” Rabbi Ya’akov of Bar – the content of his writing indicates that he was expert in the laws of treifahs and was approached with questions. Evidently he was a teacher of Jewish law in Bar. He is apparently a son of Rabbi Yehoshua Heschel, Av Beit Din of Bar, who was of prestigious Jewish lineage, patrilineally descended from the gaon Rabbi Shmuel of Krakow. One of his descendants was Rabbi Shalom of Kaminka. [1] blue paper leaf, written on both sides. Fine condition.
