These books belonged to a number of generations of the distinguished Teumim family: The first and second title page bear owner notes in chronological order: Rabbi Aharon Darshan Teumim – Rabbi of Prague around the time the book was printed, and then Rabbi of Krakow. He died in sanctification of G-d’s name in Av, [1690]. He was a prolific author of “Mateh Aharon”, “Bigdei Aharon”, and “Choshen Aharon”. The title page notes many titles, such as ‘genius’, ‘righteous person’ etc. Rabbi Aharon himself signed at the top of the title page, but his signature has been erased –it can still be read and positively identified. Following his name, are the names of the rabbis: Aharon ben Yehuda Leib Teumim, Rabbi of Friedrich, Switzerland (died c. 1720), and his grandson Yosef ben Zussman Teumim. Wonder stories abound about Rabbi Aharon Darshan Teumim.
