Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira, the Baba Sali, wrote: ‘Book of ketubahs of the city of Tinjedad, opened for inscription on Sunday, 7 days, 8 Iyyar 1938, 200 May 8th, 1938. Hash-m’s servant, Yisrael Abuchatzeira S”T’ on the inner part of the binding of the book of Ketubot of Tinejdad. He also signed his official signature as rabbi of Erfoud and environs.

Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira [1889-1984] was a son of Rabbi Massoud, rabbi of Tafilalt (Morocco), and grandson of the tzaddik, the author of Abir Ya’akov. He served as the rabbi of Erfoud, Morocco. Towards the end of his life he ascended to the Land of Israel and settled in Netivot. Rabbi Yisrael Abuchatzeira was famous as a lofty holy man who worked miracles like the ancients. He blessings were fulfilled precisely as he said them. He was accepted by all ethnic and social groups, Ashkenazim and Sephardim, and revered by all. Hundreds and thousands of people came to receive his blessing and for salvation, including the greatest rabbis and Admo”rs, who sought his doorstep.
